The real benefit will come with our exclusive membership site that makes a live dog training classroom available to you right in the comfort of your own home.

We want to help you.. and just for sending us your comments and frustrations we will provide you with some free training... simply because we can and we are here for the love of dog!
We look forward to meeting you all... we look forward to all the great pictures and videos of your own dog. Make your dog the super star you know he or she can be!

Just Right! Dog Training

I'm dad & step-dad in a blended family of 2 households in Manhattan, NYC. (We have a weekend home on 3 acres, 2 hours away where we spend weekends.. it's in the middle of a farm, with lots of open space and no fenced in area to contain dogs.)
At one home we have an 8 year old Westhighland Terrier, Spanky, who is very smart, and quite high strung. He's mellowed through the years, but still is unconrollable when he sees animals on television, and panics during thunderstorms.
At my other home we have a 7 year old shitzu, Callicoon, who is low-key, but poorly trained. She usually holds herself until she's taken for a walk, but we need to keep her contained to certain rooms in the house. If, for example, we forget to put a gate on the staircase and we leave the master bedroom and bath doors open, Callicoon will certainly let us know what she thinks of us by leaving memorable deposits on our bath mat... each and every time!
Both Spanky and Callicoon are city dogs that have done well in adapting to our weekend situations. We keep Callicoon on a leash at all times, mostly out of the family's fear of her running away. I don't think this would really happen, but won't take the chance given other family member's fears. Spanky does run in the fields, chasing squirrels and other creatures, but always comes back when called (not always the second he's called, but he's pretty good.. we just need to wash him after his romp!)
We will soon be moving, and in our bigger home anticipate adding a new dog to join Callicoon. We're considering getting a Labradoodle (just like Jackson??), or a Bernese Mountain Dog (my son's preference) or a Cockerpoo. This will be MY (a 51 year old, soon to be retired guy) very first dog.. the others I mentioned were raised in my ex-wife's and new wife's homes.. and I'll be responsible for training and caring for the dog.
I want to do a great job, and am looking in all directions for advice and support as I make my decision and begin training.
Thanks in advance,
JP
JP,
Awesome. That is what we do and we'd be happy to help you along with your questions and direction in training.
Jackson is a Labradoodle and we've trained many of them. They are good dogs in that they learn easily and they don't shed which a lot of people like. Bernese Mountain Dogs are also very cool dogs so it is a matter of personal preference on breed.
As far a your other one leaving you nice little presents... we can talk about that too. The training we have works for any size dog and the benefits of understanding how a dog learns will help in getting over the nice deposits your dog is leaving for you!
We teach you how dogs learn and think in pictures. It is different than the way we think... we logic and it becomes very frustrating when your dog doesn't understand. Once you see how a dog learns it becomes much easier and you will feel the relief of understanding from both sides.
Keep us updated on your dog decision and we happy to help you with any questions you might have!
You are very welcome!
